Bold aromatic foliage topped in summer and autumn by magenta to purple flowers  on a tall spike. Very drought tolerant perennial suitable for sunny sites in the garden. Tolerates frost well. Said to slowly spread. This very fragrant and vigorous species comes from a semi-arid area of Baja California, Mexico. The sage-like purple flowers are produced for a long time on each inflorescense. This plant is highly recommended for anyone who likes fragrance in the garden. Seeds germinate easily in Spring at room temperatures. Transplant once the seedlings have 4 true leaves.
