Fuchsia microphylla

Fuchsia microphylla

SKU: R44
Fuchsia microphylla   This is the smallest leafed and flowered species in the genus. It grows in mountain cloud forests in Costa Rica and Panama and is said to reach 2 m but in  NZ cultivation this form (ssp. hemsleyana) seldom grows over 500mm in height. While the small fruits are edible, as with all Fuchsia, they are seldom produced in quantity. This species makes a wonderful pot or tub plant and can be hedge trim shaped annually. Flowers are produced year-round. Seeds are small and slow to germinate and grow. It is best to sow seeds on the surface and keep pot in a sealed zip-lock bag in a bright but not direct sun location until germination.
